| DIXON/LEJEUNE
H.S. SCHOLARSHIPS: Scholarships are generally
$1000 in value given to nine Dixon High School students
and one Camp Lejeune High School student on the basis of
scholarship, contribution to community and financial need.
The scholarship is paid after a successful first semester
in college. |

| SAT SCHOLARSHIPS:
The Club contributes to the county SAT scholarship fund
for a competing Dixon High School senior. Rotary offers
opportunities to Dixon seniors to earn community service
credit for this scholarship program through work at Rotary
community projects. |

| RYLA: Rotary
Youth Leadership Assembly is an opportunity for leadership
training for one to two Dixon Juniors to prepare them for
leading roles in the administration of senior activities.
Rotary funds all expenses. |

PARADE: Provide funding and support for the annual
Sneads Ferry Memorial Day Parade |

| SHRIMP FESTIVAL: Sneads Ferry Rotary Club
is a major participant in the Shrimp Festival the 2nd
weekend in August by contributing funds for fireworks and
sponsoring a parade float in honor of our Armed Forces. |

| LAKE WACCAMAW
BOYS AND GIRLS HOME: Sneads Ferry Rotary Club
is a major sponsor of the Rotary Cottage at the Boys and
Girls Home, ranking 22nd in the entire state
in contributions. Additionally, the club sponsors
gifts for two cottage residents at Christmas. |

Sneads Ferry student |

| CARING FOR KIDS
AT CHRISTMAS: Caring for Kids at Christmas is
a premier club program, which ensures that needy children
of Sneads Ferry have a happy Christmas. Rotary works
with the Dixon schools to identify up to 15 children who
need help at Christmas. Each child is paired with
a Rotarian for a day of shopping ($100 each) at J.C. Penney’s
who offers a 40% discount to the program. The child
selects what he or she wants, generally clothing.
The day is capped by lunch at MacDonald’s and Christmas
Carols are sung on the bus trip back to Sneads Ferry. |

| THANKSGIVING TURKEYS
FOR THE NEEDY: The Rotary Club of Sneads Ferry
delivers turkeys and hams to needy families and individuals
in the community just before Thanksgiving. Over 35
turkeys and hams are brought to the needy to ensure them
a full Thanksgiving. |

SNEADS FERRY: Rotary is a major funds contributor
to the community Winterfest, a holiday celebration/program

| FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
TO THE NEEDY: Financial assistance to the needy
is a budgeted, year-round Rotary program that reacts to
the emergency needs of the community of Sneads Ferry.
From helping with medical expenses to assistance in paying
for food and utilities, Rotary is there when a voice in
need is heard. |

| CHRISTMAS GROCERIES
FOR THE NEEDY: This is a program to provide $100
to $150 of groceries to needy families/individuals so that
they may have good meals during the Christmas Holiday period.
Over 35 families are generally supported. |

| ONSLOW WOMEN’S
SHELTER: This is a program of continuing funding
and/or supplies to the Onslow Women’s Shelter annually.
This past year, our contribution, along with the other Onslow
county Rotary Clubs, adopted a room in the new Onslow Women’s
Shelter. |

| PERCY JENKINS
SENIOR CITIZENS DINNER: This dinner, named in
honor of its founder, Percy Jenkins, is a tribute to the
senior citizens of Sneads Ferry for their contributions
to the community over the years. Rotarians fund, cook
and serve a great meal to the seniors who use it as an annual
reunion with friends and fellow citizens. |

| SUPPORT OF LOCAL
FIRE DEPARTMENTS: Our Club is vitally interested
in the readiness and training of the two community fire
departments to successfully respond to fires, other emergencies
and acts of terrorism. Rotary makes major contributions
to each department to facilitate their progress toward performance
goals. |

| DIXON/LEJEUNE
HS PROJECT GRADUATION: Rotary is a major contributor
and source of volunteers to help with this program designed
to give graduating seniors at Dixon HS and Camp Lejeune
HS a safe, fun, memorable evening at the end of their 12
years, through the respective school systems. Dancing,
food and other entertainment over a twelve-hour period make
for a great event for our students. |

| INTERACT/FUTURE
BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA-DIXON HS: As a club, Rotary
encourages high school students to develop business skills
and the ethical approach to business dealings and life.
Rotary is a contributor and sponsor of the Future Business
Leaders of America at Dixon High School to help them attain
the worthy goals of their club. |

| DICTIONARY PROJECT
(DIXON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL-3RD GRADERS):
Rotary in North Carolina and our Sneads Ferry Club sponsors
and funds this program to give every third grader their
own dictionary. During the last three years, Rotary
has provided dictionaries to the third grade at Dixon Elementary. |

| DRUG ERADICATION
IN SNEADS FERRY (SF CITIZENS IN ACTION): The Sneads
Ferry Rotary Club responded to a growing national, state
and local illegal drug problem. The club provides
leadership, organization and funding to the Sneads Ferry
Citizens in Action (SFCIA), a community-wide group focused
on eliminating the illegal drug problem in Sneads Ferry
through education and political and legal activism. |

| LOS ANDES PERU
REFUGEES: The Sneads Ferry Rotary Club provides
funding for support of a missionary-operated refugee camp
in Los Andes, Peru. The refugees from communist guerilla
fighting in the Andes now have dormitories, a chapel/meeting
house, a dining hall and a safe water supply. The
club’s annual contribution will support the continued growth
and operation of the camp. |

| ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY:
Rotary has adopted a two-mile stretch of HWY 210 under
the state Adopt-A-Highway program. The road is cleaned
quarterly through Rotary. |

| ROTARY CENTENNIAL
COMMUNITY PROJECT: This is a community project
to celebrate the Centennial of Rotary. The Sneads
Ferry Club project put lighting on the Stump Sound athletic
Fields to support evening youth leagues athletic activities.
The project was jointly done with Jones Onslow Electric
Membership Corporation , the county and the athletic leagues
and was completed in June 2004. |

| ACADEMIC CHALLENGE:
This is a countywide Rotary project to encourage
academic excellence and competition among high schools in
eastern North Carolina and neighboring states. It
is a contest along a quiz show format. Sneads Ferry
Club provides funding and volunteers to help run the contest. |

| WORLD POLIO ERADICATION:
The Sneads Ferry Rotary Club has pledged to make the
annual maximum contribution to this Rotary International
Program to eradicate polio worldwide. |

| PAUL HARRIS INITIATIVES:
This is a club project to encourage member contribution
and participation in the Rotary Foundation, which supports
worldwide projects for peace and health. |

| ROTARY READERS
(DIXON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL): This is an initiative to
spend time reading to the elementary school children.
Sneads Ferry Rotarians will be working in conjunction with
the faculty at Dixon Elementary School on timeframes in
the near future. |

| BOOK PROJECT (DIXON
MIDDLE SCHOOL): This is a continuation of a club project
to grow the Dixon Middle School Library into one of the
best research and academic support facilities in Eastern
North Carolina. |
